small town talk - words by Dean Bycroft illustrated by Evan Heasman




They walk after nightfall to evade the teasers, but this only fuels the rumors. Moose hears the taunts. It upsets him, but he ignores them. Life is easier this way. Rooster wishes he was as big as Moose so he could teach them swine a lesson. And despite their fewer number, the night-time bullies' piercing words burn the most, like poisoned blades with fatal consequences.
